Gurgaon: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband with a rolling pin following an argument over dinner at their house near Sapphire Mall on Sunday night. The victim, Meena Devi, sustained severe injuries to her head and face during the assault. Her husband, Sahib Sahni, returned home drunk and asked her to prepare dinner even as she was about to sleep. When she confronted him over his drinking, the argument escalated into an altercation, and Sahni attacked her with the rolling pin, striking her repeatedly until she fell unconscious in a pool of blood, according to police.
Locals who heard screams rushed to the house and took Devi to a nearby hospital, where she died of her injuries. The couple’s four younger children were home when the incident took place. Their two elder sons were away at work. The family worked as labourers.
Sahni was arrested within a few hours. An FIR for murder was registered at Sector 10A police station. A forensic science team, along with personnel from the Sector 93 police post, visited the scene and collected evidence. The body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
