The Gurugram police have arrested an individual accused of abusing a female doctor and her husband, as well as damaging their vehicle, in a road rage incident. The arrest was made on Wednesday following a complaint lodged by the doctor couple. An FIR was registered at the Sadar police station under relevant sections of the BNS.
Details of the Incident
According to police, on Tuesday a woman doctor submitted a complaint at the Sadar police station stating that two individuals travelling in a black Toyota car abused and assaulted her and her husband. The accused also damaged the windshield of their vehicle and threatened to kill them. The doctor stated in her complaint, "We were so terrified. When we started making a video of the accused, they fled in their car."
Police Investigation and Arrest
Acting on the case, a police team conducted an investigation and arrested one accused on Wednesday. He was identified as Paras Thakran, a resident of Malibu Town, Sector-47, Gurugram. During police interrogation, it was revealed that an argument broke out between the complainant and the accused while overtaking vehicles at a turn. Following the altercation, the accused allegedly committed the offence mentioned above. A Gurugram police spokesperson said, "Further legal action will be taken as per law. The investigation is ongoing."
Concerns Raised by the Complainant's Counsel
Meanwhile, advocate Suresh Dutt Kaushik, counsel for the doctor, alleged that the police were not investigating the matter properly. He said, "Without recovering the case property, they secured police bail for the accused within two hours of arrest. We will file a complaint with the Police Commissioner against the police soon."
The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the efficacy of legal proceedings in such cases. The police have assured that the investigation is ongoing and that appropriate legal action will be taken.
