Police have confirmed that the attack on Gurugram realtor Vishal Beri was pre-planned, with the assailants renting a vehicle two days prior and using sophisticated weapons. In a late-night encounter on Thursday, four of the five shooters linked to gangster Deepak Nandal were killed.
Attack Details
According to a senior police officer, the gang rented a black Scorpio from Rohtak two days before the attack, indicating careful planning. The vehicle's registration number was concealed with black tape. At around 9:50 pm, the Scorpio reached Beri's residence in Sushant Lok. Three armed men stepped out, held the businessman hostage, and opened indiscriminate fire at his house and neighboring properties. One assailant recorded the attack on a mobile phone.
Police Response
Crime Branch teams, acting on intelligence about possible extortion attacks, had laid a strategic cordon. Police surrounded the vehicle and repeatedly asked the accused to surrender. The shooters retaliated by firing at police, triggering an exchange of over 60 rounds. Four accused died during treatment, while the fifth sustained serious injuries. Three Crime Branch personnel — ASI Sunil Kumar, Constable Manjit Singh, and Constable Shamsher Singh — also suffered bullet injuries and were admitted to Medanta Hospital.
