Bengaluru Gym Trainer Dies by Suicide Following Alleged Harassment and Blackmail
In a tragic incident that has shocked the local community, a 27-year-old gym trainer allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural district, late on Saturday night. The deceased, identified as Dileep, was a resident of Vajrahalli in Nelamangala and worked as a gym trainer while also being an accomplished bodybuilder who had won several competitions.
Video Call Preceded the Tragic Incident
According to preliminary police investigations, Dileep made a video call to a 42-year-old married woman he had befriended at the gym approximately two years ago. During this call, he reportedly informed her of his decision to end his life and showed her tying a cloth to the ceiling fan before taking the extreme step. The woman, who used to frequent the gym for workouts, had developed a close friendship with Dileep during training sessions, which allegedly evolved into a personal relationship over time.
History of Police Involvement and Continued Allegations
Police records indicate that Dileep and the woman had approached law enforcement authorities about a year ago following disputes between them. At that time, the woman and her husband submitted a written apology, assuring that she would cease contact with Dileep. Similarly, Dileep provided a written statement committing to maintain distance from her, leading to the matter being compromised. However, Dileep's family members have come forward with serious allegations, claiming that the woman continued to harass and blackmail him despite the previous resolution.
Final Hours and Family's Account
On the night of the incident, Dileep returned home around 11:15 PM. When his father asked him to have dinner, he reportedly stated that he had already eaten outside and proceeded upstairs to his room. Within minutes, he allegedly tied a blanket to the ceiling fan and initiated the fateful video call to the woman, showing her the noose and informing her of his decision.
The woman then messaged Dileep's sister, Vinutha, who was at home for her maternity period. After initial greetings went unanswered, she urged Vinutha to check on her brother. When Vinutha inquired about what was wrong, the woman revealed that Dileep had not eaten anything for three days and had tied a cloth to the fan, expressing that she was scared.
Family Discovers the Tragedy
Alarmed by this information, Vinutha immediately informed her parents. "My father and I forced open the door and found Dileep hanging," Vinutha recounted. "We immediately untied the noose and, with the help of neighbors, rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead."
Vinutha has made serious allegations against the married woman, claiming that her brother ended his life due to persistent harassment. "She used to show him her baby and emotionally harass him. She must be punished," Vinutha stated emphatically.
Father's Allegations of Property Pressure
Dileep's father, Ramesh, has leveled additional serious accusations, claiming that the woman pressured his son to transfer his house property into her son's name. "Unable to bear the torture, my son took his life," he told police investigators during their inquiry into the matter.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination was conducted at Nelamangala Government Hospital on Sunday. Nelamangala Town police have registered a formal case and are actively investigating all aspects of the incident. As part of their investigation, police have seized Dileep's mobile phone for data retrieval to gather additional evidence and understand the complete sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
This heartbreaking case highlights the devastating consequences of alleged harassment and emotional pressure, raising important questions about relationship dynamics, mental health support systems, and legal protections against such forms of coercion.
