Major Drug Bust in Hanumangarh: Police Seize 35,600 Banned Tablets and Arrest Three
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan have successfully conducted two separate operations, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of banned intoxicating tablets and the arrest of three individuals. The operations, carried out in the Fefna police station area on Monday, are part of an ongoing drive to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
Details of the Operations and Seizures
According to Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, the police seized a total of 35,600 banned tablets with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 1.42 crore. In addition to the drugs, authorities recovered Rs 1.05 lakh in suspected sale proceeds and a motorcycle used in the illicit activities. The arrests and seizures underscore the police's commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes from the district.
First Operation: Arrest of Two Accused
In the initial operation, a team led by Hanumangarh Station House Officer Narendra Kumar Uni intercepted two men traveling on a motorcycle. The accused, identified as Pradeep Kumar and Subhash, both residents of Nohar, were apprehended with 1,500 Pregabalin capsules. This swift action highlights the effectiveness of police surveillance and intelligence efforts in targeting drug peddlers.
Second Operation: Major Haul and Cash Recovery
The second operation proved even more substantial, with police arresting Anil Kumar, a resident of Ratanpura. During this raid, authorities confiscated 19,100 Tapentadol capsules and 15,000 Pregabalin capsules, along with the cash suspected to be from drug sales. The recovery of such a large cache of banned substances and proceeds indicates the scale of the illegal operations being disrupted.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police have confirmed that a case is being registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigation is underway to uncover potential links to larger drug networks. The district special team (DST) from Nohar played a crucial role in assisting with intelligence gathering and evidence collection, demonstrating a coordinated approach to law enforcement. This bust is expected to significantly impact the local drug supply chain and serve as a deterrent to other traffickers.
