Haryana Women's Commission Directs Police to Arrest Rapper Badshah Over Controversial Song

The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has taken decisive action against rapper Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia. On Saturday, the commission issued directives to the police to arrest the artist in connection with cases registered against him at three different locations. These cases stem from his controversial song titled 'Tateeree', which has sparked significant public outcry and legal scrutiny.

Details of the Cases and Commission's Directives

Among the three cases, one has been classified as a criminal case, adding a serious dimension to the legal proceedings. HSCW chairperson Renu Bhatia personally oversaw the issuance of orders to key authorities, including the Panchkula Deputy Commissioner and the Panipat Superintendent of Police. These officials have been instructed to ensure the "execution of orders as soon as possible" to bring the matter to a swift resolution.

In addition to the arrest directive, the commission has mandated that police and other relevant authorities seize Badshah's passport. This measure aims to prevent him from leaving the country while the cases are pending. Furthermore, the HSCW has ordered a ban on all of Badshah's programmes and events across the state of Haryana, effectively curtailing his public appearances and performances in the region.

Background and Commission's Justification

The controversy surrounding the song 'Tateeree' has been brewing for some time, with allegations that its content is offensive or inappropriate. The Haryana State Commission for Women became involved after receiving complaints, leading to a scheduled hearing where Badshah was expected to appear. According to chairperson Renu Bhatia, the rapper failed to attend the hearing despite prior reminders from the commission.

Bhatia explained that Badshah's legal representatives had requested an extension, citing professional commitments as the reason for his absence. The commission granted him an opportunity to appear by 3 PM on the day of the hearing. However, when he did not show up and instead released another video message, the commission deemed this unacceptable. "We gave him an opportunity till 3pm, as his lawyers pleaded that he could not come for the hearing due to professional commitments. This was not acceptable, hence, we issued the directions," Bhatia stated emphatically.

The commission's actions underscore its commitment to addressing grievances related to women's issues and enforcing accountability. By moving forward with arrest orders and additional restrictions, the HSCW aims to send a strong message about the seriousness of the allegations and the importance of compliance with legal proceedings.
