A man was arrested in Haryana's Nuh district for allegedly selling banned drugs from his shop, police said on Sunday. The accused, identified as Rauf, was taken into custody after a raid conducted by the crime investigation agency (CIA) staff on Saturday.
Details of the Raid
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the CIA raided Rauf's shop in the Pinangwan area of Nuh. During the search, the police recovered a significant quantity of banned drugs, including intoxicating tablets and capsules. The contraband was allegedly being sold to local youth and other customers.
Seizure and Arrest
The police seized 1,000 intoxicating tablets, 500 capsules, and other drug-related paraphernalia from the shop. The estimated value of the seized drugs is around Rs 2 lakh. Rauf was arrested on the spot and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police Investigation
According to the police, Rauf had been running the illegal drug trade from his shop for several months. He would procure the drugs from outside the district and sell them to customers at inflated prices. The police are now investigating the source of the drugs and possible links to a larger drug network.
Legal Action
Rauf was produced before a local court on Sunday and sent to judicial custody. The police have launched a further investigation to identify other individuals involved in the drug trade. The Nuh police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in the Mewat region. The police have intensified patrolling and surveillance in the area to curb the menace of drug abuse among the youth.
