Haryana Narcotics Bureau Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 1 Crore, Three Arrested in Fatehabad
In a significant operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) has made a major breakthrough in Fatehabad. On Saturday, the bureau's Fatehabad unit successfully arrested three individuals and confiscated 530 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 1 crore. This seizure represents a substantial blow to illegal narcotics networks operating in the region.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Acting on a credible tip-off received during routine patrolling, a team from the HSNCB intercepted the suspects near Zamindara Hotel on Bhuna Road in Fatehabad. The swift action prevented what officials described as a large-scale distribution of heroin, which could have had severe societal impacts. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Pradeep, also known as Preet, hailing from Mohali in Punjab.
- Dharmbir, alias Kala, a resident of Fatehabad.
- Sapna Rani, also from Fatehabad.
Authorities have confirmed that the quantity of heroin seized qualifies as a commercial quantity under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Consequently, a formal case has been registered at the Fatehabad Sadar police station, and the accused are currently in police custody for further interrogation.
Leadership and Investigation Efforts
The operation was spearheaded by Sub-Inspector Tarsem Singh, who executed the raid under the expert guidance of Superintendent of Police Mohit Handa and Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagjit Singh. The team's efforts were based on actionable intelligence, highlighting the effectiveness of proactive policing strategies in combating drug-related crimes.
Police are now intensively interrogating the arrested individuals to uncover the broader drug network, including potential suppliers and distributors. This investigation aims to dismantle the entire chain of operations and bring all involved parties to justice.
Official Statements and Public Appeal
HSNCB Director and Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar emphasized that eradicating drug trafficking remains a top priority for the bureau. He reiterated the government's commitment to creating a drug-free society and urged citizens to play an active role in this fight.
Kumar encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking through multiple channels:
- Toll-free number: 1933
- Online portal: NCBMANAS.GOV.IN
- Helpline: 90508-91508
This appeal underscores the importance of community involvement in supporting law enforcement efforts to combat the menace of narcotics.
Impact and Future Measures
The seizure of heroin worth Rs 1 crore not only disrupts the local drug trade but also sends a strong message to traffickers about the state's zero-tolerance policy. The HSNCB plans to continue its vigilant patrolling and intelligence-gathering operations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are hopeful that more arrests will follow, leading to a comprehensive crackdown on drug networks across Haryana and neighboring regions. This operation marks a critical step in safeguarding public health and security from the dangers of illicit drugs.
