Fatal Accident During Anti-Cattle Smuggling Operation
A Haryana Police constable was killed and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a seized cattle-laden vehicle on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Goyla village in Nuh district on Thursday morning. The incident occurred when the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team from Punhana was acting on a tip-off about cattle transportation.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Crash
According to police reports, the Punhana CIA team received intelligence regarding a vehicle transporting cattle. Acting on this information, law enforcement officials seized the vehicle and began moving it for further legal proceedings. However, the seized vehicle developed a technical fault while on the KMP Expressway, forcing the team to park it on the roadside.
While the police personnel were standing behind the stationary vehicle, a speeding truck approaching from the Manesar side collided with the parked cattle-laden vehicle. The force of the impact was severe, striking Constable Girish and ASI Mukesh Phogat. Constable Girish died at the scene, while ASI Mukesh Phogat suffered critical injuries. Another officer, Sahil, narrowly escaped harm.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Upon receiving notification of the accident, multiple police units responded, including teams from Mohammadpur Ahir and Dhulawat Traffic police stations, as well as the CIA Tauru unit. Rescue operations were launched immediately. The injured ASI was transported to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where his condition remains critical.
An FIR has been registered at the Mohammadpur Ahir police station. Both the cattle-laden vehicle and the truck involved in the collision have been seized for investigation. A Nuh Police spokesperson stated, "All aspects of the accident are being investigated. We have seized both the vehicle loaded with cattle and the truck that caused the collision. A further probe is underway."

The incident highlights the risks faced by law enforcement personnel during anti-smuggling operations, particularly on high-speed expressways. The police are examining whether the truck driver acted negligently or if other factors contributed to the crash.
