The Haryana police have successfully resolved a missing woman case with the arrest of the primary suspect, who allegedly murdered the victim and later incinerated her body in neighboring Himachal Pradesh in an attempt to destroy evidence. The breakthrough was achieved by the Barara police team.
Accused and Victim Identified
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Barara, who runs a solar panel and inverter-battery shop in the town. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Amandeep Kaur, a private tutor. However, the police have yet to disclose the motive behind the crime.
Investigation Details
According to police, the case initially began as a missing complaint for Amandeep Kaur. On May 13, 2026, complainant Jaspal Singh, a resident of Naggal, approached Barara police station regarding the disappearance of his niece. He informed police that Amandeep went missing from Baba Laboratory in Barara without informing anyone. Police immediately registered the complaint and launched an investigation.
During the probe, technical surveillance and other investigative inputs revealed that the matter was not a simple missing case, but a brutal murder. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he rented a room near the railway underpass in Barara, where he administered a poisonous substance to the woman, leading to her death. After committing the crime, he allegedly packed the body into a large bag in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
Body Disposal and Arrest
DSP Suresh Kumar stated that in an attempt to erase evidence and hide the victim's identity, the accused allegedly transported the body to an area under Majra police station in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district. There, he set the body on fire. HP police later recovered the body and initiated legal proceedings as per law.
Ambala police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. He was produced before a court, which granted police remand for further interrogation. DSP Suresh said investigators are now questioning the accused in detail regarding the motive behind the murder, the source of the poisonous substance used in the crime, and the possible involvement of any accomplices. Further investigation into all aspects of the case is underway.
