The incident unfolded when a speeding pick-up van, laden with DJ equipment, rammed into a motorcycle head-on after the driver attempted to avoid a deep pothole.

According to eyewitness accounts, the pick-up van was traveling from Vishnugarh at high speed. The driver suddenly swerved to evade a large pothole on the poorly maintained road, causing the vehicle to lose control. It crossed over into the opposite lane and collided directly with the oncoming motorcycle. The impact was severe, leaving the bike mangled and debris scattered across the highway.

The motorcyclist, identified as Santosh Pandit, a 40-year-old resident of Bhundarni in Rajdhanwar, Giridih district, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The pillion rider, Santosh (38) from Dumariatand in Giridih, who is reportedly speech and hearing impaired, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
