Major Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade in Hazaribag Ahead of Ram Navami
In a significant pre-emptive strike against the illegal liquor trade, Hazaribag police conducted extensive raids across 52 locations late Wednesday night, resulting in the seizure of a massive quantity of country-made liquor and the arrest of two individuals. The operation was specifically timed ahead of the Ram Navami celebrations to curb illicit activities and ensure public safety during the festivities.
Simultaneous Raids Yield Substantial Seizures
Hazaribag Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan revealed that six specialized teams were formed to execute simultaneous raids. These operations targeted various establishments, including hotels, grocery stores, suspected hideouts, and several eateries within the Korra police station area.
The seized materials included:
- 855 liters of mahua liquor
- 3,540 liters of java mahua
- 225 liters of spurious Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL)
All confiscated liquor and raw materials were destroyed on the spot to prevent any possibility of re-entry into the illegal market. Additionally, authorities demolished 10 unauthorized distillation units that were operating without proper licenses, effectively dismantling key production facilities for illicit alcohol.
Enhanced Security Measures for Ram Navami Celebrations
Meanwhile, the district administration has implemented comprehensive security arrangements to maintain law and order during the upcoming Ram Navami festivities. Religious processions will be covered under advanced digital surveillance systems, incorporating geo-tagging and GPS tracking technologies.
"Every procession will be tracked in real time, and its movement will be continuously monitored from the control room," stated SP Anjani Anjan. "CCTV cameras installed across the city will provide live feeds, enabling authorities to keep a close watch on crowd movement and respond swiftly to any situation."
The administration has conducted thorough analysis of procession routes using Google Earth mapping technology, identifying sensitive points that require additional security attention. This proactive approach allows for strategic deployment of security personnel and resources.
Comprehensive Public Amenities and Emergency Services
To ensure public health and safety during the large gatherings expected for Ram Navami, the district has established 51 medical camps along key procession routes. These facilities will provide immediate medical assistance to participants and spectators.
The emergency response infrastructure includes:
- 10 bike ambulances deployed for rapid response during medical emergencies
- Regular 108 ambulance services stationed at strategic locations throughout the city
- 34 water tankers positioned along major procession routes by the Hazaribag municipal corporation
The municipal corporation is also providing modular toilets, urinals, and community sanitation facilities to accommodate the large crowds expected during the celebrations. These measures aim to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and maintain public hygiene standards throughout the festival period.
The coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and civic authorities demonstrate a comprehensive approach to festival management in Hazaribag, balancing security concerns with public convenience and safety.
