The accused, identified as Vijoy of Karavaloor, was arrested after the attack. SHO Santosh Kumar was admitted to Punalur taluk hospital and given first aid. He later resumed duty.

According to police, the incident occurred when Vijoy arrived at the station to inquire about Saju S Varghese, a Youth Congress activist who had been taken into custody earlier in the day in connection with a court-issued warrant. Police said Vijoy began creating disturbance inside the station and became aggressive during the inquiry.

Hearing the commotion, the SHO came out of his office and attempted to calm the situation. However, Vijoy allegedly turned violent and struck the officer in the face. The blow reportedly injured the SHO’s nose.
