HPCL Officials Fatally Shot in Budaun Plant Attack by Dismissed Vendor
In a shocking incident at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in Budaun district, Uttar Pradesh, two senior officials were brutally shot dead by an armed assailant on Thursday afternoon. The victims, identified as plant manager Sudhir Gupta and deputy manager Harshit Mishra, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene in Senjani village, Musajhag area.
Details of the Attack and Police Investigation
According to police reports, the accused, Ajay Singh, a former vendor at the plant, forcibly entered the premises and opened fire at the two officials at close range. Both officials sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. The assailant fled immediately after the attack, triggering a massive manhunt by local authorities.
Superintendent of Police Brijesh Singh revealed that Ajay Singh had been blacklisted from the plant approximately two months ago, which allegedly fueled his resentment. "He had a prior dispute with the officials, and the deputy manager had lodged a formal case against him around two months ago. Since then, he had been issuing threats," the officer stated.
Security Measures and Forensic Analysis
In response to the incident, security has been significantly tightened in and around the HPCL plant to prevent any further threats. The bodies of the deceased officials have been sent for postmortem examination, and a forensic team has been deployed to gather evidence from the crime scene.
Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the accused, emphasizing the urgency of the manhunt given the violent nature of the crime. This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about workplace safety and vendor management in industrial settings.
