Hubballi Man Allegedly Murders Wife Over Gold Loan Dispute, Leaves Two Young Children Orphaned
A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Hubballi, Karnataka, where a man has allegedly murdered his wife following a heated argument over financial matters, particularly concerning gold loans. The tragic incident has left two young children without their mother and their father in police custody.
Victim Identified as 27-Year-Old Masabbi Irfan Shiggavi
The deceased has been identified as Masabbi Irfan Shiggavi, a 27-year-old resident of Ramalingeshwar Nagar in Hubballi. According to preliminary reports from the Gokul Road police station, Masabbi and her husband, Irfan, who works as a construction laborer, had been married for approximately five years. The couple was residing in a rented accommodation within the same locality.
Financial Strain and Alleged Harassment Preceded the Tragedy
Police investigations suggest that the couple frequently quarreled over financial issues, with the immediate trigger being a dispute related to a gold loan. Masabbi's family members have come forward with serious allegations, claiming that Irfan had been consistently harassing his wife, pressuring her to obtain money from her maternal home.
"We had given him Rs 20,000 recently. But he demanded more from us," the grieving family members stated, highlighting the persistent financial demands that created immense tension within the household.
Brutal Attack During Argument
The situation escalated dramatically during a particularly intense argument. In a fit of rage, Irfan allegedly attacked Masabbi with a sharp weapon, stabbing her multiple times on critical parts of her body, including her neck, chest, and stomach. The brutal assault proved fatal, leading to Masabbi's untimely death.
Husband Surrenders, Police Take Custody
Following the horrific act, Irfan reportedly proceeded to the Keshwapur police station and surrendered himself. He was subsequently handed over to the jurisdictional Gokul Road police station, where a formal investigation has been initiated. Authorities are now meticulously examining the sequence of events, the motive behind the crime, and gathering forensic evidence to build a strong case.
Two Young Children Left in the Lurch
Adding a layer of profound tragedy to this case is the fact that the couple leaves behind two very young children – a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter. The future care and well-being of these minors now become a pressing concern for extended family and child welfare authorities.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Hubballi, raising serious questions about domestic violence, financial stress in marriages, and the mechanisms for intervention. The Gokul Road police are continuing their probe to uncover all details surrounding this heartbreaking crime.
