The swift action by law enforcement highlights their commitment to tackling crime in the region.
Details of the Incident
According to a press release issued by Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya, the case originated from a complaint filed by a couple. On the evening of February 23, at around 6:30 PM, the couple was discussing personal matters while seated in their car on the Deveragudihal-Revadihal Road.
Suddenly, two bikers approached the vehicle and threatened the couple. The assailants forcibly pulled the husband out of the car and proceeded to loot his gold chain, weighing 35 grams, along with cash amounting to Rs 4,500. This brazen act of extortion left the victims shaken and prompted immediate police intervention.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting on the complaint, a dedicated police team was assembled to investigate the case. The team, led by Police Inspector MR Channannavar and including PSI Imran Pathan, ASI NM Honnappanavar, and ASI Nandish Vadrale, worked meticulously to track down the perpetrators.
Their efforts culminated in the arrest of the two accused on March 2. The individuals have been identified as Akash, also known as Anta Akash Hanumantappa Singanalli, and Raju, alias Rajashekhar Dayanand Pavate, both residents of Hubballi.
During the arrest, the police successfully recovered the stolen assets, including the gold chain and cash, as well as the motorcycle used in the commission of the offence. This recovery not only brings relief to the victims but also serves as a deterrent to similar criminal activities in the area.
Official Statement and Implications
SP Gunjan Arya emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving such cases. "The prompt complaint from the victims enabled our team to act swiftly and apprehend the accused," he stated. The police have assured the public that they remain vigilant and are taking all necessary measures to ensure safety and security on the roads.

Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately. The Hubballi Rural police continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to prevent such incidents in the future and maintain peace in the community.
