A tragic road accident in the early hours of Wednesday claimed two lives and left one person injured in Hyderabad. The incident occurred when a speeding car, driven by a man without a valid licence, ploughed into a makeshift tent where a family of roadside vendors was sleeping.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place at around 4:30 am on Wednesday at the Durganagar crossroads in the Mailardevpally area. According to police, the victims were a family from Madhya Pradesh who had set up a temporary shelter on the roadside to sell bedsheets and pillows. Prabhunath (50) and his son Deepaknath (20) were killed in the impact. Prabhunath's other son, Sathunath, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Police investigation revealed that the car, carrying five young men, was returning from Gaganpahad after the occupants had tea. The driver, identified as Syed Hussain, allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The car first mounted the left-side footpath, then veered into an open plot, crashing directly into the tent where the victims were asleep. The force of the collision severely damaged the car.
Driver's Background and Legal Action
All five occupants of the car, including the driver, are B.Com students who also work part-time as bouncers. They had reportedly worked near a reception function in Bandlaguda on Tuesday night before the accident. Mailardevpally inspector B Satyanarayana provided these details, noting the sequence of events.
Following the crash, the car's occupants escaped with minor injuries and exited the vehicle. Police immediately took the driver and the others present at the spot into custody. A critical finding during the investigation was that Syed Hussain did not possess a valid driving licence.
Charges Filed in the Case
Given the circumstances of overspeeding and the absence of a legitimate licence, the police have taken a serious legal stance. Authorities have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the driver. This charge reflects the alleged negligence that led to the fatal incident.
