Hyderabad: A 35-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was booked by Chandrayangutta police after a video showing him ferrying eight passengers went viral on social media. The video, uploaded three days ago, came to the notice of the authorities, leading to his arrest on Friday.
Incident Details
Police identified the driver as Abdul Hameed Khan, a resident of Bismillah Colony in Kothapet. He was traveling from Bahadurpura after picking up cooks from a function, heading towards Chandrayangutta, when locals spotted occupants hanging off the sides and rear of the vehicle. A case was registered for negligent driving and endangering passenger safety.
Investigation Underway
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the hotel workers were all adults. Officials confirmed that no previous cases or challans were pending against the driver. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
