A major fire broke out in a private travel bus near KPHB Colony in Hyderabad late on Friday night, causing significant panic among passengers and local commuters. According to official reports, approximately 18 passengers were on board the vehicle at the time of the incident. Fortunately, all individuals were evacuated safely without any injuries being reported.

The alarming incident occurred around 10:45 PM near Metro pillar number 734, which is situated close to Padmavati Plaza in the KPHB area. The bus involved was an air-conditioned sleeper coach operated by Sri Durga Maheshwari Travels. It had originally commenced its journey from Miyapur and was en route to Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle had made a brief stop at the location to pick up additional passengers when the fire was first detected.
Cause of the Fire and Immediate Response
An official from the Kukatpally fire station provided crucial details based on eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations. According to these findings, flames initially erupted in the driver's cabin area. Authorities strongly suspect that an electrical short circuit was the primary cause of the fire outbreak.
The fire department official stated: "Upon noticing smoke emanating from the cabin, the driver and bus staff immediately alerted all passengers and facilitated their swift evacuation. This prompt action prevented any casualties or injuries. Within minutes, however, the fire spread rapidly throughout the vehicle, causing extensive damage to a large portion of the bus."
Firefighting Operations and Traffic Disruption
Emergency services responded swiftly to the situation. Upon receiving information about the blaze, two fire tenders were dispatched from the Kukatpally fire station to the scene. Firefighters worked diligently and managed to bring the fire under control within approximately 40 minutes of their arrival.
The incident resulted in heavy traffic congestion along the KPHB stretch for a considerable period. Traffic police personnel were deployed to the area to manage the situation and clear the roadway, eventually restoring normal traffic flow after some time.
