Hyderabad Doctor Dies by Suicide, Wife Booked for Abetment
In a tragic incident that has shocked the medical community, a 40-year-old doctor from Keesara, Hyderabad, died by suicide on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Dr. Vinod Kumar, was found unconscious in his car parked on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Rampally Dayara. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police Investigation and Medical Evidence
Keesara police discovered Dr. Kumar at approximately 3 PM. A cannula was still taped to his right hand, and an empty syringe was found inside the vehicle, indicating he had injected himself with a poisonous substance. Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch Sridhar confirmed the details, stating that the medical evidence pointed to a deliberate act.
Family Allegations and Legal Action
Following the incident, police informed Dr. Kumar's family of his death. His father filed a formal complaint, alleging that prolonged harassment by his daughter-in-law drove his son to take his own life. Based on this complaint, an abetment to suicide case was registered against the doctor's wife.
The complaint outlines serious allegations, including:
- The wife controlled Dr. Kumar's finances completely.
- She blocked his communication with family members, isolating him.
- The harassment had been ongoing, creating immense mental distress.

Dr. Vinod Kumar worked as a general physician at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was married for 18 years and is survived by two sons, aged 12 and 10. The family's complaint suggests that domestic issues and financial control played a significant role in his decision to end his life.
