Hyderabad Inspector Injured in Stone Pelting Over Oxen

A police inspector and four others sustained injuries in Hyderabad's Chaitanyapuri area after alleged cow vigilantes pelted stones at a cargo van transporting oxen for the shooting of a Vijay Deverakonda film. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in the Old City. Saroornagar police arrested nine assailants, who have been sent to judicial remand.

Incident Details

The incident took place at around 1:45 am on Tuesday when a DCM van carrying eight oxen was stopped by a group at Kothapet X Roads. According to Saroornagar Inspector N Srishylam, the oxen belonged to four farmers from Koheda and were being taken to Purani Haveli for the shooting of actor Vijay Deverakonda's film 'Ranabaali'. However, the mob suspected the animals were meant for slaughter.

Police stated that the group wrongfully restrained the driver and the farmers, abusing and assaulting them. Alerted by locals, night-duty police officials immediately reached the spot and directed the van driver to take the vehicle to a goshala at Fathullaguda for safe custody.
