In a significant move to tighten the noose around criminals and traffic offenders, the police leadership of Hyderabad's three commissionerates convened a crucial coordination meeting on Wednesday. The high-level huddle, spearheaded by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, aimed to dismantle the barriers of jurisdiction that offenders often exploit.
Ending Jurisdictional Loopholes
Commissioner Sajjanar highlighted a modern policing challenge: criminals frequently commit crimes in one area and flee to another, using jurisdictional boundaries as a shield. He warned that any delay caused by ambiguity over police limits could allow culprits to slip away. Emphasising seamless cooperation, Sajjanar instructed that the nearest police unit must respond immediately to any crime, regardless of where it officially occurred, putting an end to debates over jurisdiction at the field level.
Synchronised Strategies for Traffic and Crime
The meeting yielded concrete decisions for coordinated action. A major focus is on joint drunk-driving operations, especially during weekends. To prevent offenders from taking alternative routes to escape checks, police will conduct simultaneous enforcement at all border points linking the three commissionerates.
Furthermore, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city will now be uniformly regulated. All three commissionerates will synchronise timings, restricting these vehicles during peak hours and stopping them on the outskirts to ease urban congestion.
Tech Integration and Joint Teams for Organised Crime
Present at the meeting, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty stressed the need for real-time crime tracking. He called for seamless coordination and integration of the CCTV networks across the regions to monitor criminal movements effectively.
Echoing the sentiment for collaborative efforts, Rachakonda Commissioner Sudheer Babu pointed to the necessity of forming joint special teams. These teams would specifically target organised crime and illegal activities, citing the example of ganja smuggling as a prime area for such coordinated action.
The tri-commissionerate initiative marks a proactive step by Hyderabad's police force to create a unified front against lawbreakers, ensuring that jurisdictional lines do not become escape routes for offenders.
