Hyderabad Woman Faces Legal Action for Alleged Derogatory WhatsApp Posts

In a significant development in Kondapur, Hyderabad, authorities have registered a case against a woman accused of posting derogatory content on WhatsApp that targeted Hindu deities, allegedly hurting community sentiments. The complaint, filed by Vishal Kumar, a private employee, on Monday, centers on the woman's WhatsApp status updates and messages shared in an apartment group.

Details of the Complaint and Police Investigation

According to the complaint, the posts contained derogatory remarks against Hindu deities, which have sparked concerns over religious harmony. Police have taken swift action by registering a case under Sections 353(2), 299, and 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

A police official provided further insights, stating that the complaint was received on April 6 from Vishal Kumar, a resident of Shanthinagar North Lalaguda in Secunderabad. "In which he stated that on April 2 at about 22.00 hours he received a call from his known person where he stated that a lady by name Sumitha has posted a WhatsApp status abusing Hindu deities," the official explained. "Earlier, she had also posted a message in the apartment group in response to a photo of a cow," the official added, highlighting the context of the alleged offenses.

Allegations of Property Damage and Community Impact

In addition to the online posts, police revealed that CCTV footage purportedly shows a woman deliberately breaking pots and throwing Tulsi plants, actions that have further fueled tensions. The complaint alleges that these behaviors not only hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community but also pose a risk to public peace and order.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining all evidence, including digital records and surveillance footage, to ascertain the full extent of the allegations.
