IAF Jawan and Father Allegedly Beaten by Wedding Procession in Bulandshahr
A disturbing incident of alleged violence has been reported from Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, where an Indian Air Force (IAF) jawan and his father claim they were brutally assaulted by members of a wedding procession. The attack, which left both victims with serious injuries, occurred on February 19 near Amargarh village, highlighting concerns about public safety and road behavior during celebratory events.
Details of the Alleged Assault
According to a police complaint filed by the victims, the incident took place around 5:00 PM on the Amargarh–Jahangirabad road. The complainant, Jitendra Singh, a resident of Khandoi village, stated that he was returning home with his son Pratham after attending a family engagement ceremony. Their journey took a violent turn when they encountered a wedding procession led by Akash Sharma, a resident of Amargarh.
The complaint describes the procession as moving along the same route with a DJ system, accompanied by several relatives and others. "They were intoxicated and dancing in the middle of the road holding liquor bottles. When we honked the car to pass, they began abusing us," the complaint alleges. This initial confrontation quickly escalated when Jitendra Singh objected to the verbal abuse.
Violent Escalation and Injuries
The situation turned physically violent as alleged attackers reportedly used weapons. "When the applicant objected to the abuse, Ashok Sharma and Akash Sharma attacked with iron/steel rods, and Dharmendra, Sachin, Saurabh, Vishal and Vivek assaulted the applicant and his son with sticks (dandas) with the intention to kill," the complaint states.
Both victims sustained serious injuries in the attack. The complaint further notes that Jitendra Singh briefly lost consciousness due to the severity of his injuries. "As a result, both the applicant and his son sustained serious injuries. Due to the injuries, the applicant fell unconscious on the road," the document reveals. Additionally, personal belongings including wristwatches and a gold chain were reportedly broken and lost during the assault.
Aftermath and Police Complaint
Local residents gathered at the scene during the incident, after which the alleged attackers fled while issuing threats. "Many people gathered at the spot during the incident, and upon seeing them, the accused fled while threatening to kill us," the complaint adds.
Jitendra Singh identifies himself as a government school teacher, while his son Pratham serves in the Indian Air Force. The complaint has been filed with local police authorities, who are now investigating the matter. This incident raises questions about:
- Public safety during wedding processions
- Road behavior and intoxication in public spaces
- Protection of armed forces personnel and their families
- Law enforcement response to such violent altercations
The Bulandshahr district administration and police are expected to take appropriate action as the investigation progresses. Such incidents underscore the need for stricter regulation of public celebrations and enhanced security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
