Police in Brampton, Canada have made significant arrests in a major organized auto theft case. Three Canadian residents of Indian origin now face multiple criminal charges.

Brampton investigators from the Commercial Auto Crime Bureau executed a search warrant on January 8, 2026. This action followed an investigation that began in December 2025. Officers targeted a network allegedly involved in stealing vehicles and tractor-trailers.

During the search at a Brampton residence, police recovered three stolen vehicles. All these vehicles displayed fraudulent Ontario licence plates.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Amritpal Khattra, 28 years old
  • Gurtas Bhullar, 33 years old
  • Mandeep Kaur, 32 years old

Specific charges against each individual

Amritpal Khattra faces the most extensive list of charges. These include:

  1. Possession of property obtained by crime
  2. Two counts of possession of a counterfeit mark
  3. Failure to comply with release and probation orders
  4. Attempted theft of a motor vehicle
  5. Theft under $5,000
  6. Possession of break-in instruments
  7. Theft of a motor vehicle
  8. Break and enter

Gurtas Bhullar faces charges including attempted theft of a motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, failure to comply with a release order, possession of property obtained by crime, theft of a motor vehicle, and break and enter.

Mandeep Kaur faces two charges: possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a counterfeit mark.

Current status of the accused

Police have taken different approaches with the three individuals. Khattra and Bhullar remain in custody awaiting bail hearings. Kaur received release on an undertaking with specific conditions.

Investigators revealed an important detail about Khattra and Bhullar. At the time of their arrests, both men were already subject to court-imposed release orders. These orders related to previous property offences.
