Indore Ramps Up Security with Sector-Wise Police Control Rooms for Rangpanchmi Gair Procession
In a comprehensive move to ensure public safety, the Indore district administration has announced the establishment of sector-wise police control rooms along the Rangpanchmi Gair route. This strategic deployment is specifically designed to drastically reduce response times in the event of any untoward incidents during the traditional festivities scheduled for Sunday.
Massive Security Deployment and Advanced Surveillance
A formidable force of over 2500 personnel will be stationed across these control rooms, ensuring robust security coverage. The administration is leveraging modern technology with aerial real-time surveys conducted via drones, complemented by extensive CCTV camera networks and video recording along the entire procession route. To enhance crowd management and security deployment, the Gair route has been meticulously divided into distinct sectors.
Emergency Preparedness and Strict Regulations
Proactive measures include the planning of an emergency exit route to swiftly address potential stampede situations during the procession. Collector Shivam Verma, in a joint meeting with administrative officials, police, and Gair organizers at the Collectorate on Friday, issued clear directives. Organizers must strictly adhere to scheduled timings and the sequence of processions to prevent congestion. A ban on DJs has been imposed, with warnings of strict action against any disorder.
Furthermore, organizers are mandated to ensure that celebrations remain orderly, with no objectionable materials used or thrown at participants. Compliance with the Noise Pollution Control Act is compulsory, prohibiting obscene or vulgar songs. Only vehicles with prior permission will be allowed, and drivers must hold valid licenses, be sober, and have their vehicles' fitness verified.
Traffic Management and Public Cooperation
DCP Anand Kaladgi emphasized that police will maintain strict surveillance throughout the event. Welcome stages along the route are permitted only on one side of the road to facilitate smooth movement. Authorities have issued stern warnings: anyone creating disturbances or found carrying weapons will face severe legal consequences. Citizens are urged to immediately report any suspicious activities, such as individuals carrying weapons or attempting to disrupt public order. Action will also be taken against those consuming alcohol and causing disruptions.
Traditional Celebrations with Enhanced Safety
The traditional Gair processions, expected to draw thousands of enthusiasts, will follow designated routes. Key highlights include the Radha-Krishna Faag Yatra and groups organized by institutions like Tori Corner, Maral Club, and Sangam Corner. To ensure comprehensive emergency response, fire brigade units, ambulances, and medical teams will be on standby along the route, ready to address any medical or safety emergencies during the celebrations.
