A horrific hit-and-run incident on Lasudia Bypass in Indore Wednesday night claimed the life of a 32-year-old man who was struck by a speeding car in full view of his 10-year-old son, leaving the child severely traumatized and the family devastated.
The Tragic Incident Details
According to Lasudia Police, the victim Rajesh Jhopte (32), son of Roopsingh Jhopte and resident of Omaxe City, had taken his young son Aakash for an evening ride around 8 PM. The tragedy unfolded when Rajesh parked his motorcycle by the roadside near Sheraton Hotel on the bypass, leaving Aakash seated on the vehicle while he crossed the busy road to purchase some items.
Police officials revealed that a high-speed car struck Rajesh with such tremendous force that he was thrown approximately 20 feet away, resulting in immediate death. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help or identify themselves, instead fleeing the scene immediately after the collision.
Young Witness Left Traumatized
The entire horrific accident was witnessed by 10-year-old Aakash, who remained seated on the motorcycle on the opposite side of the road. Family members later reported that the child was severely traumatized by witnessing his father's death and was unable to speak or communicate properly following the incident.
An auto-rickshaw driver stopped at the scene to offer assistance, and shortly afterward, the police First Responder Vehicle (FRV) arrived. The emergency team transported Rajesh to MY Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police Investigation Underway
Lasudia police have registered a case and are actively pursuing multiple leads to identify the vehicle and apprehend the absconding driver. Investigators are gathering information from eyewitnesses and local residents while also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to gather clues about the accused.
Rajesh, who originally hailed from Bedia village in Khargone, had moved to Indore years ago seeking employment opportunities. He worked as a mechanic and is survived by his wife and three children, including the traumatized 10-year-old Aakash who witnessed the fatal accident.
The incident has highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety on busy bypass routes and the devastating consequences of hit-and-run cases that leave families shattered and children scarred for life.
