Indore Kite Dispute Turns Violent: Man's Thumb Bitten Off in Assault
Indore: Kite fight leads to thumb bitten off, FIR filed

A seemingly trivial disagreement between children over a stray kite in Indore spiraled into a horrific act of violence, resulting in a 25-year-old man being severely assaulted and having his thumb bitten off. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the Kulkarni Nagar locality, underscores how quickly tempers can flare with devastating consequences.

From Child's Play to a Vicious Attack

The chain of events began innocently enough. According to the complaint filed by the victim's wife, Durga, their son's kite drifted and landed on the terrace of their neighbour, Yashoda Marpat. This minor incident sparked an initial argument. Personnel from the First Response Vehicle (FRV) arrived at the scene, assessed the situation as minor, and advised both parties to maintain peace and resolve the matter amicably.

However, the calm was short-lived. Late on the same night, tensions erupted violently. As per the account given by Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Yadav, the victim, Ajay, was allegedly cornered and beaten by a group. The group included neighbour Yashoda, her family, and Tipendra, the owner of a nearby under-construction house. During the brutal assault, Tipendra allegedly bit off Ajay's thumb, inflicting a serious injury.

Police Action and Investigation Details

Following a preliminary inquiry into the serious assault, Tukoganj police registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) against two primary accused: Tipendra and Sunil, who is Yashoda's husband. The role of other individuals involved in the attack is currently under verification.

Investigators have a crucial piece of evidence: the entire incident was captured on nearby Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras. Police are now meticulously examining the surveillance footage to identify additional suspects visible during the assault. In a revealing twist, it also emerged during the probe that Tipendra's mother has a criminal past, having been previously convicted in an arson case registered at Vijay Nagar police station.

Case Under Close Scrutiny

The brutality of the case has prompted senior police officials to take direct notice. The case is being closely monitored at higher levels to ensure a thorough investigation. Police have stated that further legal action will be based strictly on the evidence gathered during the ongoing probe. The combination of CCTV evidence and the serious nature of the injury suggests that strong charges are likely to be pressed against the identified assailants.

This incident in Indore serves as a grim reminder of how quickly a neighbourhood quarrel can transform into a life-altering violent crime, leaving a victim with permanent physical and psychological scars.
