In a significant crackdown on narcotics trade, the Indore police have apprehended three individuals in two separate incidents, seizing contraband substances with a combined street value of approximately Rs 2.2 lakh. The operations highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb drug supply chains within the city.
Nervous Behavior Leads to Major Bust in Palasia
The first breakthrough came during a routine police check in the Palasia area. A team, vigilant during their patrol, noticed a man who appeared unusually nervous upon spotting the officers. Acting on suspicion, the police team detained him for questioning.
The individual identified himself as Shubham Borasi, a 28-year-old resident of Badi Gwaltoli. Upon verification, police records revealed that Borasi is a habitual offender with several cases already registered against him. A subsequent personal search led to the recovery of 8.13 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Tushar Singh stated that the seized narcotic was valued at nearly Rs 1 lakh in the illegal market. Borasi was allegedly involved in supplying the drug in the Palasia locality.
Crime Branch Nabs Duo with Synthetic Drugs on Dhar Road
In a parallel action, the crime branch unit of Indore police made another significant arrest. Officials apprehended two men, identified as Jafar and Shahnawaz, on charges of trafficking synthetic drugs.
The arrest took place on Dhar Road after the duo was allegedly caught with 11.36 grams of MD (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), a potent synthetic drug. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed that the market value of the seized MD was estimated to be around Rs 1.2 lakh.
During interrogation, the investigators reported that the accused admitted to their illicit trade. The duo confessed to purchasing the narcotic substance at lower rates and then selling it to habitual users across various parts of Indore for a substantial profit.
Legal Actions and Ongoing Crackdown
Following the arrests, the Indore police have registered formal cases against all the accused under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The separate busts in Palasia and on Dhar Road underscore a coordinated effort to dismantle local drug networks.
These successful operations signal a clear warning to drug peddlers operating in the region. The police have reiterated their commitment to continuing such rigorous checks and intelligence-driven actions to make the city free from the menace of illegal narcotics. The focus remains on targeting both suppliers and the distribution channels to effectively reduce drug availability.
