Indore Constable Suicide: Family Seeks Answers, Reveals Troubled Past
Indore Police Constable Suicide: Family Meets Investigators

The family of police constable Priya Yadav, who was found dead in Indore three days ago, arrived in the city on Saturday morning to seek answers from the investigating officers. They went directly to the Aerodrome police station, demanding clarity on the circumstances that led to her tragic demise.

Family Seeks Details on Tragic Death

Priya Yadav's mother, brother, and cousin Manish met with officials to understand the sequence of events. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishna Lalchandani stated that the family revealed Priya had spoken to them about a fellow constable named Kavindra, with whom she had grown close. The family was unaware that the two were sharing a room in Indore.

Constable Priya Yadav, originally from Munger district in Bihar, was posted at the DRP Line in Indore. She was discovered hanging in her rented accommodation in Shubham Palace Colony on Wednesday night. Her body was subsequently moved to the district hospital for formalities.

A Past Marked by Personal Struggle

During their interaction with police, Priya's brother Manish provided crucial background. He disclosed that Priya had married Amit Kumar in 2014 against her family's wishes while she was still a student. Since Amit belonged to a different community, the marriage caused a severe rift, especially as her father was the village head. The family severed all ties with her for several years.

The situation changed in 2021 after Amit Kumar's death, which led to a reconciliation. Following this, Priya Yadav was appointed to the police department on compassionate grounds in early 2023. After completing her training, she received her posting in Indore.

Recent Relationship and Investigation Focus

The family informed police that Priya met Constable Kavindra while on duty. Kavindra was earlier posted at Chhatripura police station and later moved to the traffic department. Priya had confided in him about her past and had also mentioned him to her family.

Manish stated that Priya expressed a desire to marry Kavindra, but he seemed non-committal. Reportedly, his family was also unwilling to accept the marriage, despite both belonging to the same community. Investigators now suspect that an argument related to marriage may have preceded her death.

The police have stated that they will question Kavindra to verify the events of the night of the incident. The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the final hours of Constable Priya Yadav's life.
