Indore Police Seize Overcrowded Livestock Vehicle Following Citizen Tip-Off
In a swift action against animal cruelty, police in Indore seized a vehicle loaded with livestock in an overcrowded and inhumane condition in the Tejaji Nagar area. The operation was initiated based on a tip-off from Harshvardhan Singh, a vigilant resident of Ralamandal, who alerted authorities about the illegal transport of cattle.
Tip-Off Leads to Immediate Police Response
Harshvardhan Singh reported the vehicle to the police, detailing its involvement in transporting cattle in a manner that violated animal welfare standards. Acting promptly on this information, a police team set up a blockade near Kalod Kartal Fata along the bypass to intercept the suspicious vehicle.
Interception and Discovery of Overcrowded Conditions
When the vehicle was stopped, police officers discovered it was crammed with seven cattle, far exceeding safe and humane capacity limits. The overcrowded conditions posed significant risks to the animals' health and well-being, highlighting the severity of the violation.
Driver Flees, Vehicle Seized and Case Registered
Upon spotting the police, the driver and his aides abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the distressed animals behind. The police seized the vehicle and transported it to the police station for further investigation. A formal case has been registered under the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, 2004, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Ongoing Efforts to Apprehend Accused
Authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused. This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and strict enforcement of animal protection laws in Madhya Pradesh.
