Jaipur: An inmate was injured after allegedly being attacked by a fellow convict with a sharp object inside the computer laboratory of Jaipur Central Jail on Thursday, prompting the jail administration to seek police action.
Incident Details
Jail authorities identified the injured prisoner as Chetan Singh, a resident of Chawandiya village in Nagaur district. According to a complaint lodged by jail officials, Chetan was attending a class in the prison's computer laboratory when fellow convict Suryaprakash allegedly attacked him with a sharp object, causing an injury to his left cheek.
Immediate Response
The injured inmate was immediately provided medical treatment inside the jail, officials said. The accused prisoner was subsequently taken back to his cell in Ward No. 11.
Police Involvement
Following the incident, the jail administration informed Lal Kothi police station and requested registration of an FIR against the accused convict. Police said they received the complaint and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
“We received a complaint from the jail authorities regarding the incident and are examining the circumstances that led to the assault,” a police officer said.
