A senior official of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) died tragically on Saturday morning after falling from the 17th floor of his highrise apartment in Noida's upscale Sector 104. The incident has sent shockwaves through the residential community and the corporate circles he was part of.
Sequence of a Tragic Morning
The incident occurred around 10:20 am at the ATS One Hamlet society. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Garg, an Executive Director at IOCL. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that Garg was on a phone call and may have stepped out onto his balcony to get a better mobile network connection, as the signal inside his flat was reportedly weak.
Officials revealed that Garg had spoken to his wife just moments before the fatal fall. Shortly after, other residents of the society discovered him lying motionless on the ground. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sector 110, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police Probe Examines All Angles
While the initial findings point to death due to the impact of the fall, senior police officers have stated it is too early to conclude whether it was a tragic accident or a case of suicide. "All possible angles are being examined," a police officer involved in the investigation said.
The authorities are meticulously scanning CCTV footage from the society and nearby areas to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the fall. So far, no suicide note has been recovered from Garg's flat, and there are no immediate signs indicating an intention of self-harm. The investigation remains open and active.
Family and Background of the Deceased
Ajay Garg, originally from Kanpur, lived in the Noida apartment with his wife, Mayuri. His son is based in Mumbai for work. The police are currently recording statements from family members, fellow residents of ATS One Hamlet, and society staff to gather more context.
Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing forensic and medical examinations. The tragic demise of a high-ranking corporate official in such sudden circumstances has highlighted both the personal loss and the potential hazards in urban residential settings.
