IP University Warns Applicants Against Fraud Calls Promising Guaranteed Admissions
IP University Warns Against Fraud Calls for Admissions

New Delhi: In response to complaints from applicants receiving calls offering "guaranteed admissions" in exchange for large sums of money, raising concerns about a possible data breach, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) has issued a public advisory. The university urges students to avoid falling prey to touts and to rely solely on the official admission process.

University Vice-Chancellor's Statement

IP University Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma informed TOI that the institution had recently received complaints from candidates who applied for admission and were subsequently contacted by individuals claiming they could secure seats for a fee.

"Students are receiving calls promising guaranteed admissions. Amid ongoing admission and paper-leak related rackets, it is crucial to expose such fraud. No payment can guarantee admission in the university. Admissions are granted strictly on merit through the official counselling process," Verma said.

He added that with admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes set to begin this month, the advisory was issued to alert applicants against fraudsters.

Official Advisory Details

In its notice on Saturday, the university stated that admissions to all its campuses and affiliated colleges are conducted only through a centralised merit-based counselling process. It advised candidates not to share their login credentials, passwords, or personal details with unauthorised persons and cautioned them against seeking assistance from third-party agents, counsellors, or computer centres while creating admission accounts.

"For the safety of personal details, applicants are advised to create their login ID and password by themselves, not to take help of any third party like computer centres and admission counsellors," the notice said, emphasising the importance of maintaining confidentiality of personal information.

Steps for Applicants

The university also asked applicants to rely only on information published through its official websites and admission portal. It urged candidates to report any approach by agents claiming to facilitate admissions to the authorities.

Admission Process Overview

Admission to IP University is primarily accepted through CUET scores. However, the university conducts its own in-house entrance tests (IPU CET) or professional tests for specialised and advanced courses, such as B.Tech (via JEE Main first priority), MBA (via CAT/CMAT), law (via CLAT), and medical/dental (via NEET).

Applicants are strongly advised to follow only the official channels and remain vigilant against fraudulent offers. The university reiterated that no payment can secure admission, and all selections are based purely on merit through the centralised counselling process.
