In a decisive move to enhance public safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Jaipur City Police have impounded a total of 141 vehicles during an intensive three-day special drive. The campaign specifically targeted traffic violations, with a focus on cars and SUVs fitted with black films and two-wheelers that were illegally modified.
Major Haul in Three-Day Special Drive
The crackdown was conducted from November 29 to December 1 across the southern part of the city. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma, the operation led to the seizure of 100 four-wheelers and 41 modified two-wheelers under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act. The drive was executed under the direct supervision of Additional DCP (South) Lalit Sharma, with active participation from Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) of the Mansarovar, Sodala, Ashok Nagar, and Chaksu circles.
Linking Traffic Violations to Criminal Activities
DCP Varma clarified that the police action was driven by concrete intelligence inputs. Investigations had repeatedly shown that vehicles with dark tinted windows and souped-up power bikes were being used in serious criminal offences. "In Jaipur city, vehicles with black film and power bikes are repeatedly found involved in serious offences," Varma stated. He listed crimes such as:
- Kidnapping
- Robbery
- Chain snatching
- Mobile phone snatching
The campaign was, therefore, a proactive measure aimed at disrupting this pattern and preventing such crimes by targeting the vehicles commonly associated with them.
Aim for Compliance and Curbing Crime
The primary objectives of this high-intensity campaign were twofold. First, to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules that prohibit unauthorized modifications and tinted films beyond permissible limits. Second, and more critically, to curb the use of such vehicles in unlawful activities that threaten citizen safety. By removing these vehicles from the roads, the police aim to create a significant deterrent for criminals who rely on them for anonymity and quick getaways. The successful seizure of 141 vehicles marks a substantial step in the Jaipur Police's ongoing efforts to make the city's streets safer for all residents.
