Jaipur Cow Calf Head Investigation Faces Scrutiny as Gaushala Issues Contradictory Statement
The police investigation into the discovery of a severed cow calf head hanging in a cattle shed in Ashokpura, under the Shyam Nagar police station limits in Jaipur, has encountered significant challenges. Hingoniya Gaushala, operated by the Shri Krishna Balram Seva Trust, has issued a detailed statement that directly disputes several key elements of the police's initial version of events, casting doubt on the accuracy of the ongoing probe.
Gaushala Denies Receiving or Handling the Dead Calf
On Wednesday, Hingoniya Gaushala clarified that no dead calf from the Shyam Nagar area was transported to their facility by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) on February 8, as previously suggested in police reports. The trust emphasized that they contacted JMC's animal management wing, which confirmed that no information regarding a dead calf was logged at the JMC control room on that date. Furthermore, the municipal team did not lift any carcass from the area, according to the trust's statement.
Without any lifting or transport of the carcass, there was absolutely no possibility of a dead calf reaching Hingoniya Gaushala, the trust asserted, highlighting a critical inconsistency in the police narrative.
Key Details Challenged by Trust Head Raghupati Das
Raghupati Das, the head of the trust, provided additional clarifications that further complicate the investigation. He stated that the accused individual, Satyanarayan Sharma, was not present on the gaushala premises on the day of the incident, contradicting earlier police assumptions. Das also firmly denied that the facility provided the head or any remains of a dead calf to anyone involved in the case.
Explaining the gaushala's standard procedures, Das noted that carcasses brought by JMC vehicles are recorded at Gate No. 5 and are disposed of directly in designated pits. The gaushala's role is strictly limited to sprinkling salt and covering the pit with soil, he said, underscoring that they have no involvement in the collection, transport, identification, or determination of the origin of dead cattle.
Police Response and Political Allegations Surface
In response to the gaushala's statement, Shyam Nagar SHO Dalbir Singh acknowledged that the facts presented earlier were based on statements recorded during the initial investigation phase. This admission suggests that the police may need to revisit their findings in light of the new information.
The controversy has quickly escalated into a political issue, with former minister and Congress member Pratap Singh Khachariyawas alleging that the BJP-led government is attempting to suppress the matter. These allegations add a layer of political tension to an already sensitive investigation, raising questions about transparency and accountability in handling the case.
As the investigation continues, the discrepancies between the police version and the gaushala's account highlight the complexities involved in resolving this disturbing incident. Authorities are now faced with the task of reconciling these conflicting statements to uncover the truth behind the severed cow calf head in Ashokpura.
