Jaipur Police Crack Down on Dangerous Highway Stunt Riders
In a swift response to public safety concerns, the Jaipur police have arrested 13 men for performing reckless motorcycle stunts while brandishing swords and sticks on the Delhi bypass national highway. The arrests were made on Tuesday after a video of the dangerous act went viral, highlighting the risks posed to commuters.
Details of the Reckless Incident
According to police reports, the accused were part of a group of 10 to 15 riders who were seen speeding from Chungi Circle towards Idgah between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM on April 19. The riders created loud noise and endangered other road users while carrying weapons during their stunts.
Among those arrested, one individual named Sahil has been booked under the Arms Act for waving a sword during the performance. The other 12 men were held under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), which addresses public safety violations.
Police Investigation and Action
The incident came to light after the viral video circulated online, showing the bikers performing risky manoeuvres on a busy stretch of the national highway. Taking immediate cognisance, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Karan Sharma formed a special team to track down those involved.
The investigation team, supervised by Additional DCP Neeraj Pathak and led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Aditya Pooniya along with Station House Officer Dharm Singh, meticulously scanned footage from 25 to 30 CCTV cameras along the highway and surrounding areas.
Using technical inputs and local intelligence, the police successfully identified the accused and carried out a coordinated crackdown. As a result of the operation, four motorcycles used in the stunt were seized, and all 13 accused were taken into custody.
Background and Ongoing Investigation
During questioning, the police discovered that the group had been returning from a fair at Aandhi Dargah and decided to ride together, during which they performed the stunts. This reckless behavior not only violated traffic laws but also posed a severe threat to public safety on a major national highway.
Officials have stated that further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other participants seen in the viral video. The police are committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this dangerous activity are held accountable under the law.
