Jaipur Police Crack Down on Arms Smuggling Network, Arrest Two Suspects

In a significant operation aimed at curbing the illegal arms trade, Jaipur police made a major breakthrough on Friday night with the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition. The arrests came after police intercepted a Scorpio vehicle in the Bassi area, acting on specific intelligence about an impending arms delivery.

Detailed Operation and Seizure

Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal revealed that the Crime Branch had received precise information indicating that armed criminals were en route to Bassi to supply country-made pistols and cartridges. Acting swiftly on this tip, police teams intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough search.

During the search operation, authorities recovered:

  • Two country-made pistols
  • Ten live cartridges
  • Two empty cartridges

The illegal weapons cache and the Scorpio vehicle used in the smuggling attempt were immediately seized on the spot as evidence.

Identities of the Accused

The police identified the arrested individuals as:

  1. Anil Kumar alias Sukha (21), a resident of Dadanpura in Dholpur
  2. Lokesh Kumar alias Ayan (27), a resident of Akhaipura in Daulatpura

Both suspects have been formally arrested under the stringent provisions of the Arms Act, which carries severe penalties for illegal possession and trafficking of firearms.

Wider Surveillance Drive

Officials emphasized that this operation was part of a broader, sustained surveillance campaign that Jaipur police have been conducting for several days. Police teams had been actively tracking individuals suspected of ferrying illegal weapons between different areas of the city and its outskirts.

"The operation in Bassi was a crucial component of our comprehensive strategy to disrupt the circulation of country-made firearms," explained a senior police official. "We have been monitoring suspicious movements and gathering intelligence to target the entire smuggling network."

Ongoing Investigation and Future Actions

Both accused individuals are currently in police custody and undergoing intensive interrogation. Investigators are focusing on determining the source of the seized weapons and identifying the intended recipients of the illegal arms shipment.

A police official involved in the case stated, "Further arrests and recoveries are highly likely as we work to dismantle the entire arms smuggling network. Our investigation is progressing systematically to uncover all links in this illegal operation."

The successful interception and arrests demonstrate Jaipur police's commitment to maintaining law and order by targeting organized crime elements involved in arms trafficking. Authorities have warned that similar crackdowns will continue across the city to ensure public safety and prevent the proliferation of illegal weapons.
