Jaipur Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign with Major Arrests and Seizures
In a decisive move against narcotics networks, the Jaipur police on Tuesday executed a major operation under the special anti-drug campaign "Mission Jagriti," resulting in the arrest of five individuals and the registration of five cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This marks the second significant action under the campaign, targeting multiple areas within the city's south division.
Coordinated Raids Across Key Police Stations
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma confirmed that the accused were apprehended during coordinated raids in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Sodala, Jyotinagar, Shivdaspura, Sanganer Sadar, and Muhana police stations. The operation specifically aimed at disrupting both the supply and consumption networks of illicit drugs, reflecting a strategic approach to curb organized crime in the region.
Substantial Seizures of Narcotics and Assets
The crackdown led to the confiscation of a substantial quantity of narcotics, including 776 grams of cannabis, 6 grams and 28 milligrams of smack, and 14 pieces of charas. Additionally, police seized Rs 6,590 in cash, one scooty, and three mobile phones, all suspected to be linked to drug-related activities. These seizures underscore the scale of the operation and its focus on dismantling the financial and logistical aspects of drug networks.
Statewide Directive and Multi-Agency Collaboration
The operation was conducted as part of a broader statewide directive to combat organized crime, with teams formed under the supervision of Additional DCP Lalit Sharma and ACP Aditya Kakde. The effort involved a collaborative approach, integrating station house officers, district special teams, and cyber cell units to ensure a comprehensive and effective response.
Intelligence-Driven Tactics and Public Engagement
Officials detailed that the teams conducted an extensive door-to-door survey in slum settlements, identifying charge-sheeted and suspicious individuals to build targeted intelligence. This was followed by raids, house searches, and scrutiny of mobile phones, along with the preparation of detailed dossiers to map local drug networks. The campaign is part of a sustained effort to dismantle supply chains and monitor habitual offenders, with further actions anticipated in the coming days.
In a bid to enhance public participation, authorities have appealed to citizens to share information related to drug supply or consumption through a dedicated helpline (9530424984). They have assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential, emphasizing community involvement as a key component in the fight against narcotics.
