Jaipur Traffic Police Seize Five Low-Floor Buses Over Pending Challans
Jaipur Police Seize 5 Buses Over Unpaid Traffic Challans

Jaipur: The traffic police have seized five low-floor buses operated by Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd (JCTSL) due to pending traffic challans and alleged traffic violations. The buses were operating on Route No. 14 between Chomu Puliya and Bassi.

Unpaid Challans Lead to Seizure

Officials stated that a significant number of challans against these buses had remained unpaid for an extended period. One of the buses alone reportedly had over 80 pending challans. The police initiated the seizure after the dues were not cleared despite repeated notices being issued.

Depot and Operational Issues

The buses belong to the Todi depot, where maintenance work is being handled by Mateshwari Company. Employees have alleged that drivers are frequently assigned double shifts, which leads to negligent driving and operational problems. This practice has raised concerns about driver fatigue and safety.

Reckless Driving Allegations

Residents and commuters have alleged that several low-floor bus drivers are often seen overspeeding and driving recklessly on city roads, increasing the risk of accidents. Allegations have also surfaced that the JCTSL management rarely takes strict action against errant drivers, allowing such behavior to persist.

Questions Over Traffic Rule Enforcement

Following the police action, questions are once again being raised over adherence to traffic rules and the monitoring of the city’s public transport system. The seizure highlights the need for better enforcement and accountability within the public transport sector.
