The Crime Branch of the Commissionerate Police in Jalandhar has apprehended two individuals and recovered 800 grams of heroin, ₹1.72 lakh in cash, and a two-wheeler vehicle from their possession, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Operation Details
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, with guidance from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Manpreet Singh Dhillon, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Jayant Puri, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Amarbir Singh. The raid was executed by Inspector Sarabjit Singh, in-charge of the Crime Branch.
Arrests Made
According to the Commissioner, the Crime Branch team stopped two young men on suspicion near Subhana Road in Urban Estate, Phase-I. During interrogation, the suspects were identified as Sandeep, a resident of Phagwari Mohalla, Garha, Jalandhar, and Paras, also known as Happy, who lives near Rama Mandir in Garha.
A thorough search led to the recovery of 800 grams of heroin and ₹1.72 lakh in cash from the accused.
Legal Action
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the local police station. The Commissioner further revealed that both accused are already implicated in a criminal case registered at Police Station Division No. 7. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to uncover links to a larger drug trafficking network and identify other individuals involved in this illegal trade.
