Jalandhar Police Busts Inter-State Illegal Weapons Supply Module
In a significant breakthrough, the Jalandhar counter-intelligence unit has successfully dismantled an inter-state illegal weapons supply module with the arrest of two accused individuals from Uttar Pradesh. The police team conducted a meticulous operation, recovering ten 7.65 mm country-made pistols along with twenty magazines from the possession of the arrested suspects.
Arrests and Identifications
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dalesh Kumar, also known as Saurav Kumar or Nannu, a resident of Paindapur village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Amit Chahar, a resident of Baseri Chahar village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Their apprehension marks a critical step in curbing the flow of illegal arms into Punjab.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav highlighted that this development follows closely on the heels of another major arrest. Almost a month prior, two operatives of the Babbar Khalsa, Sukhwinder alias Sunny and Rawal, were arrested for procuring and placing three grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED) near Balachaur. This IED was later utilized in a blast at PS Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh, underscoring the dangerous nexus between weapons smuggling and extremist actions.
Investigation and Foreign Connections
During a sustained and thorough investigation, both accused were apprehended from Mathura, with the recoveries made at that time. DGP Yadav emphasized that they were acting under the directives of foreign-based criminals operating from Germany and the United States. These international elements have been supplying weapons to criminal gangs within Punjab, exacerbating the state's security challenges.
Involvement in Extortion and Criminal Activities
Further revelations indicate that the arrested duo was also implicated in procuring weapons and executing firing incidents for extortion purposes. Specifically, they carried out a firing at a travel agent's residence in Garhshankar, following orders from their foreign-based handlers. This incident highlights the broader criminal network's reach and the urgent need for continued vigilance and law enforcement efforts to disrupt such operations.
