Security forces have launched a massive counter-insurgency operation in the dense forests of Jammu, targeting foreign terrorists who have been using the rugged terrain as hiding spots, according to senior police officials.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, confirmed that intensive search operations are currently underway across multiple forest areas in the region. "Our forces are actively working to neutralize foreign terrorists who have taken shelter in Jammu's forests," stated Jain during a press briefing.
Sophisticated Weapons Cache Recovered
The security operation has already yielded significant results with the recovery of advanced weaponry. "We have recovered US-made M4 carbines and other sophisticated weapons from these terrorists," revealed the IGP, highlighting the serious threat posed by the armed insurgents.
Multi-Layered Security Strategy
Jain detailed the comprehensive approach being employed by security forces:
- Intensive cordon and search operations in forested areas
- Enhanced intelligence gathering and coordination
- Strategic deployment of security personnel
- Continuous monitoring of suspicious movements
The IGP emphasized that while the terrorists are attempting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu, the security grid remains fully prepared to counter any threats.
Public Cooperation Crucial
Security officials have appealed to local residents for cooperation and vigilance. "Public support is essential in our fight against terrorism," Jain noted, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities or movements in their areas immediately.
The operations come amid heightened security alerts in the region, with forces maintaining maximum alertness to prevent any terrorist incidents and ensure public safety across Jammu division.
