Four people were killed and four others injured when a four-wheeler they were traveling in veered off the road and plunged into a gorge in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Thursday, officials said.
Accident Details
The accident occurred between 4 pm and 5 pm on the Dewal-Ghes motor road in the Dewal development block. According to Chamoli District Disaster Management Officer Nand Kishore Joshi, the vehicle, a Mahindra Bolero, was carrying eight passengers and was on its way back to Ghes village when the driver lost control. The vehicle rolled down the slope and fell into a river.
Rescue Operation
Police and administration teams launched a rescue operation immediately after receiving information about the incident. All four injured individuals have been rescued from the site and are being taken to the government hospital in Dewal for medical treatment. The identities of the deceased have not been confirmed yet, Joshi added.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
