In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh, Jaunpur police have arrested a 30-year-old man for the alleged murder of his own parents. The accused, identified as Ambesh Kumar from the Jafrabad area, was apprehended on Monday evening following a frantic search operation.
The Missing Complaint and Police Investigation
The case came to light when Vandana Devi, a resident of Jafrabad, approached the police. She reported that her father, Shyam Bahadur, and mother, Babita Devi, had been missing since December 8. Just a few days later, on December 12, she filed another report stating that her brother, Ambesh, had also disappeared.
Jaunpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (City) Aayush Shrivastava confirmed that the Jafrabad police registered both cases. The police swiftly formed three dedicated teams to trace the missing trio, launching an intensive search operation.
Arrest and Chilling Confession
The breakthrough came on Monday evening when police located and nabbed Ambesh Kumar in Jaunpur city. During interrogation, the accused reportedly broke down and confessed to the horrific crime.
Ambesh told investigators that on the evening of December 8, a heated argument erupted with his parents over financial matters. In a fit of rage, he allegedly struck both his father and mother with a heavy grinding stone, which proved fatal. To conceal his gruesome act, he then packed their bodies into sacks and disposed of them in the nearby Gomti river.
A Deceptive Ploy Unraveled
After committing the crime, Ambesh returned home and concocted a story for his sister, Vandana. He misled her into believing their parents were simply missing, prompting her to file the initial police report. To further divert suspicion, Ambesh himself left home under the pretext of joining the search for his missing parents. His subsequent disappearance led his sister to file the second missing person complaint, unknowingly implicating the perpetrator himself.
ASP Shrivastava stated that based on the accused's confession, efforts are now underway to recover the bodies of Shyam Bahadur and Babita Devi from the Gomti river. The police investigation is ongoing to piece together the complete sequence of events.
