Jehanabad Teenager Found Dead with Gunshot Wound in Vaishali Car
The body of a youth discovered with a gunshot injury inside a vehicle in the Gangabridge police station area of Vaishali district on February 17 has been identified as Bhanu Kumar, a 17-year-old resident of Surajpur village in Jehanabad. The identification was confirmed on Saturday, three days after the grim discovery, through a SIM card recovered from the car near the Mahatma Gandhi Setu.
Dispute During Exam Period Suspected as Motive
Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that Bhanu, an Intermediate examinee, had gone missing a day after Shivratri following a dispute with local youths during his board exam period. According to authorities, Bhanu, the son of Murari Sharma, was living with his sister in Patna and had traveled to his native village in Jehanabad to take his Intermediate examinations this year.
Family members reported that after the exams concluded, Bhanu allegedly had a confrontation with some local youths and vanished the day after Shivratri, raising suspicions about the circumstances leading to his death.
Police Recovery and Investigation Details
Rohit Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gangabridge police station, provided details on the recovery. "Bhanu's body was found on February 17 with a bullet wound on his left arm, and one empty bullet shell was also recovered at the scene. Prima facie, it appears he died due to a gunshot injury," he stated. The body was subsequently handed over to the family after proper verification procedures.
Bhanu's father, Murari Sharma, informed the police that his son had quarreled with some youths during the exam period and expressed his belief that those involved in the dispute murdered his only son. "A thorough investigation is underway, and the police will soon arrest those responsible for the murder," said Subodh Kumar, the Sadar (Vaishali) Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), who is leading the investigation into the case.
The incident has sparked concerns in the community, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to solving the crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice. The police are continuing their probe to uncover more details about the dispute and the events leading up to Bhanu's tragic death.
