Jeweller Shot and Robbed in Gonda: Police Launch Massive Manhunt
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples of fear through the community, a jeweller was brutally attacked, shot, and robbed by motorcycle-riding criminals in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. The late Sunday assault occurred near Phoolpur village under the jurisdiction of the Chhapiya police station, prompting an immediate and extensive police response to apprehend the perpetrators.

The victim, identified as Samar Kasaundhan, a resident of Babhnan in the neighbouring Basti district, operates a jewellery shop at Sisai Ranipur Chauraha. According to police reports, Kasaundhan was returning home on his motorcycle after closing his shop for the day when two unidentified assailants, who had allegedly been following him, intercepted him near a canal bridge close to Phoolpur.
The attackers forcibly brought his motorcycle to a halt by snatching the ignition key. They then assaulted him with the butt of a country-made pistol in an attempt to steal a bag containing valuable gold and silver ornaments. When Kasaundhan resisted their demands, one of the criminals opened fire, striking him in the left arm. The assailants then fled the scene with the bag of jewellery, leaving the injured jeweller behind.

Local residents who heard the commotion rushed to Kasaundhan's aid. He was initially taken to the community health centre in Chhapiya for emergency care. Due to the severity of the gunshot wound, he was subsequently referred to a medical college in Ayodhya for advanced treatment.
At the medical facility, doctors performed surgery to successfully remove the bullet from his arm. Medical authorities have reported that his condition is now stable, and he is recovering under observation.
