Major Highway Collision in Jhansi Leaves Over a Dozen Injured, Some Critical
A serious road accident occurred on the Jhansi-Kanpur highway on Monday afternoon, involving a Roadways bus, a truck, and a car, resulting in injuries to more than a dozen individuals, with some reported to be in critical condition. The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region.
Details of the Accident Near Gora Machiya
The collision took place near Gora Machiya, under the jurisdiction of the Baragaon police station. According to eyewitness accounts, the Roadways bus was traveling towards Kanpur when a truck coming from the opposite direction suddenly lost control. The truck crossed the divider, jumped the road, and collided head-on with the bus. In the ensuing chaos, a car approaching from behind failed to brake in time and crashed into the rear of the bus.
Severe Impact and Immediate Aftermath
The impact of the crash was so intense that both the bus and the truck were forced off the road, landing in a roadside culvert and breaking the barrier in the process. The scene was marked by panic and distress among those involved and onlookers. Police responded promptly to the emergency.
Emergency Response and Medical Aid: Authorities quickly transported 13 critically injured persons to Jhansi Medical College for urgent treatment. Other passengers with minor injuries were taken to a nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) for care. A crane had to be deployed to remove the severely damaged vehicles from the site.

Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar Dubey of the Baragaon police station provided insight into the cause of the accident. He stated that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle, which led to it crossing into the opposite lane and colliding with the bus.
