Jhansi Love Triangle Turns Deadly: Wife and Lover Arrested for Husband's Murder
A shocking case of alleged murder has emerged from Jhansi, where a 40-year-old woman, along with two men including her paramour, has been arrested for the brutal killing of her 44-year-old husband. The victim, identified as Jaghbhan Kushwaha, a railway vendor from Lalitpur's Talbehat area, was found dead near Jhansi railway station on February 1.
Discovery of the Body and Initial Investigation
Jaghbhan Kushwaha had left his home for work the night before his body was discovered. According to SP City Priti Singh, a case was initially lodged against an unknown person under Section 103(1) and 61(2)a of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections of the Arms Act at Nawabad police station. The investigation quickly took a dramatic turn as police delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The Love Affair That Led to Murder
During the investigation, it was revealed that Jaghbhan's wife, Kiran, had befriended Shiv Kumar Lodhi from Umrikala village through a social media platform. The two developed a romantic relationship over the past six months, meeting occasionally when Kiran's husband was away for work. Police allege that Kiran funded Shiv to purchase a gun with the specific intent of eliminating her husband.
The Fateful Night of January 31
On the evening of January 31, Shiv Kumar Lodhi, along with accomplice Dharmendra Lodhi, intercepted Jaghbhan Kushwaha. They lured the railway vendor to a secluded spot near Jhansi railway station where they shot him dead, according to police statements. The accused fled the scene immediately after committing the murder.
Investigation Breakthrough and Arrests
Further investigation uncovered crucial evidence including phone connections between Kiran and Shiv, and inconsistencies in Kiran's statements that raised police suspicions. Under sustained questioning, Kiran eventually confessed to the plot, claiming that her husband's alleged abuse had driven her to fall for Shiv and conspire in Jaghbhan's murder.
Shocking Revelation About the Accused
In a disturbing twist, it emerged that Shiv Kumar Lodhi had previously been involved in another murder case in 2024, where he was accused of killing his former girlfriend. He had been jailed but was later released on bail before allegedly committing this latest crime.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
All three accused - Kiran, Shiv Kumar Lodhi, and Dharmendra Lodhi - were arrested near the Raksa bypass area. The case has been registered under multiple sections including murder charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
