Jharkhand HC gets sealed report on minor girl rape-murder

The state government on Friday presented a sealed investigation report before the Jharkhand High Court regarding the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl from Hazaribag. The division bench of Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Sanjay Prasad was hearing a suo moto public interest litigation initiated after local dailies reported the girl's death on March 29.

Investigation Details Presented

The report included findings from police investigations, including tests on the deceased's clothing and materials recovered from the crime scene, along with the forensic laboratory report. After reviewing the documents, the bench scheduled May 11 for a detailed hearing of the matter.

Court Takes Serious Note of Threats

Advocate Hemant Kumar Shikarwar brought the case to the court's attention, informing the bench that the victim's mother, a daily wage worker at a brick kiln, was being threatened to tamper with evidence. The High Court took serious note of this and directed the Hazaribag Superintendent of Police to immediately monitor the investigation.

Arrests Made in the Case
